Real food, known by its real name.

Snap your plate. Novalife names the dish the way its home country does, then counts it with real nutrition data instead of a guess. Latin American cooking comes first.

How it works

  1. Snap your plate

Just as it's served. No arranging, no food scale.

  2. Novalife names it

It calls each dish what its home country calls it: seco de pollo, not “chicken stew.” Rice and plantain get their own lines.

  3. The numbers come from real data

Calories and macros come from recipes built on USDA data, scaled to your portion. The AI never makes up a number. Something off? Fix it with a tap, or just say it.

Everything you need to keep count

The essentials of a calorie tracker, built around the food you actually eat.

  • Photo, voice or text

Log however's easiest: a photo, a voice note (“two arepas with cheese”) or a few words.

  • Barcode scanner

Packaged food? Scan the code for calories and macros per serving.

  • A plan you can check

Your calorie and macro targets come from a published formula and your own numbers, and we show you the math.

  • Repeat in two taps

Same breakfast most mornings? Log it again from your recents or favorites.

  • Spanish and English

The whole app in both languages. Switch whenever you like.

How we calculate

No black box. Here's what's behind your numbers.

  1. What you burn at rest

The Mifflin-St Jeor equation, from your weight, height, age and sex:

    10 × weight (kg)+ 6.25 × height (cm)− 5 × age

    + 5 for men, − 161 for women

  2. How much you move

We multiply that by an activity factor from 1.2 to 1.55, based on how often you work out each week. We lean low on purpose: most of us think we move more than we do.

  3. Your pace

To lose half a kilo (about a pound) a week, we take about 550 kcal off each day, since a kilo of body fat is roughly 7,700 kcal. To gain, we add them. You choose the pace, within sensible limits.

  4. Your food

Every dish is a recipe with its ingredients in grams, and each ingredient's nutrition comes from USDA FoodData Central, the US Department of Agriculture's nutrition database. AI recognizes the dish; the database supplies the numbers.

Questions

What food does it recognize?

Latin American cooking first: home cooking, street food and restaurant plates, by the names each country uses. Everyday US food and packaged products (by barcode) too. More cuisines come after launch.

How accurate are the numbers?

AI recognizes the dish and its parts; the calories come from USDA-based recipes and the portion. A photo isn't a kitchen scale, so the portion is an estimate. If it looks off, adjust it with a tap and the totals update.
